Support Scott Thompson Running From Bali to Jakarta for Donation
February 1, 2012
Scott Thompson, a former rugby player, is an ultra marathon runner who will be running from Bali to Jakarta to raise funds for YCAB (Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa) and another non profit. Scott will run approximately 1250km for 25 consecutive days, around 50km per day. And YCAB hope to raise IDR1.25 billion by “selling” per km he runs for Rp.1 million (equals to US$111). He will endure for 25 days.
The money raised will be used to open 5 Rumah Belajar with a total of 700 underprivileged students and school dropouts per year. 100% of funds raised for YCAB will be used to open more Rumah Belajar where school dropouts can find skills for job.
Normally, Thompson trains on the weekends in the hills of Sentul near Bogor, where the air is fresh and clean. But the other day he decided to run back from Sentul to his home in Menteng, and he wasn’t on the toll road.
The run will start on the 8th of March 2012, and he hopes to finish on 1st of April. The run will take from north for 3 days to catch the Bali Straits ferry at Gilimanuk for the crossing to Banyuwangi-Ketapang. From there, He will follow the road and traffic north and then turn west on my run across East Java, Central Java and on to West Java, before finally making his way into Jakarta. [yus]
