Achilles Corsa Fully Supports “Becak Terus” Program

Jakarta – Achilles Corsa supports “Becak Terus” a unique donation program initiated by Scott Thompson. Scott had started his journey with becak (rickshaw) since Sunday, September 27, in Banda Aceh, Aceh Province, in Sumatera island.
Scott Thompson, a Scottish born who had been living in Jakarta for 12 years, is a director of one of the largest energy company in Indonesia. He had initiated some fund raising program by challenging himself to accomplish extraordinary mission.
In 2010, Scott Thompson ran as far as 250 km for three days in the Sahara. Fund raised approximately USD 40,000. In 2012, Scott ran again for 1.250 km from Bali to Jakarta for 2 weeks. The fund raised from his last run was USD 399,000.
This year, with ‘Becak Riding’ program, Scott aimed to raise funds for a million USD. To accomplish his mission, Scott will have to ride on a rickshaw across 21 cities in Sumatera Island, crossing several provinces such as Aceh, North Utara, Riau, Jambi, South Sumatera, Lampung, and move to Java island where he will crossing Banten and Jakarta, the capital city. His journey will as far as 2612 km.
“The long journey across Sumatra, conducted by Scott Thompson, is of course full of obstacles. Therefore, it takes a variety of support, one of them is providing him with a good escort. Along his journey, Scott Thompson is being escorted by two Toyota vehicles, which are the Toyota Avanza and the Toyota RAV4, which uses Achilles Radial Tires. With the Strength and durability of Achilles Radial, Scott Thompson and the team are expected to march on through the rough terrain effortlessly. ”

Scott Thompson plan to end his rickshaw journey in Jakarta on October 18, 2015. Hopefully his journey will be noted on the Guinness Book of Records.
The fund will be donated to several social organization with good reputation such as Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB), Marry’s Cancer Kiddies, Yayasan Wisma Cheshire Indonesia and Yayasan Puspita.
