PT Multistrada Arah Sarana Tbk. or MASA (The Company) is a tire producer in Indonesia which was established in 1988 by the name PT Oroban Perkasa. MASA produces radial tire for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicle, with the brand of their own, namely Achilles and Corsa. Besides of their own brand, the Company also produces tire for other companies with their own brand. Process of such production is called off-take.
In the beginning, the Company received technical assistance from Pirelli-Italy and Continental GMbh-Germany. However, by the end of 90s where economic crisis struck Indonesia, the entire Company’s obligations were transferred to the National Bank Restructuring Agency (BPPN).
In 2004, the Company was taken over by PVP xviii Pte Ltd and PT Indokemika Jayatama. Through the leadership of new management, the Company’s history started to change. This is shown by the Initial Public Offering that is conducted in 2005. Through the combination of equity and syndicated loans, the Company managed to obtain funds for expansion through various innovations and improvement of production capacity and quality.
Because of such hard work, the Company’s production capacity has reached 10 million PCR tires and 6 million MC tires. Other than that, the Company also managed to develop its product line through the Solid Tire “ST” as well as radial tire for trucks and buses “TBR”. And through the support of distributor network which has become wider in domestic or international market, the Company is eager to prolong its growth.
Becoming a successful Company, the Company also continues to improve its internal condition by maintaining customer safety through the implementation of world safety quality standard which is applied in production process. Such hard work has led to sweet achievements because the Company managed to obtain certification ISP/TS 16949:2009 and ISO/IEC 17025:2008 for Quality Management System and several product certificate among others; SNI, CCC, Inmetro, BIS, ECE-030, ECE-54, GSO, DOT, FMVSS 139.
Through constant commitment on quality, the Company managed to become one of the considerable national tire producers. This achievement is considered as quite satisfying, given the Company achieved such accomplishment in a relatively short time compared to other competitors in similar industry.
Increase of sales and recognition of the Company’s products from automotive market throughout Indonesia and the world, provides confidence for the Company to continuously increase the performance in accordance with the status as a world class tire producer.
The Company focuses on changes and innovation to increases sales and image within world market. Those steps are supported by the combination of technical ability, business, excellence on owned facilities, as well as synergy from the entire employees who cooperates.
